Trapped in a distant warehouse that was on fire, Miah Sampson had been drugged and her hands and feet had also been bound, leaving her unable to move.

Through the deadly flames, she looked at her biological sister and her husband, with whom she had just completed their marriage registration at City Hall that morning.

"Why!" Miah cried out in despair.

Eliza Sampson and Jason Powell were standing at a safe distance. "Do you still not understand when everything has played out, Miah?" Eliza said with loathing.

"Jason didn't cheat on you, he never loved you at all!

"The reason why he lowered his status by pursuing you the past three years was all just to get your shares!

"Now that he has and you were his wife for a day, it's time for you to die!"

Hearing Eliza's words, Miah found it hard to believe that the man she had trusted for three years was such a person.

Miah felt tears well in her eyes but Eliza still had more to say.

"Do you know why we set this fire to burn you to death?

"Because it's the only way Jason can divorce you without having to split any assets! All of the Sampson family's assets will belong to me and me alone! Oh, and by the way, your short-lived mother actually left you ten million dollars as an inheritance, but due to your own ignorance, that money has already been used by me three years ago to further my studies abroad.

"If your mother knew that her husband was stolen by another woman, her daughter had been murdered, and even the money that she had struggled her whole life for had fallen into my pocket, she would definitely writhe in her grave!" Eliza finished with a cackle.

Through the ever-growing flames, Miah vaguely saw Eliza pulling Jason's hand and leaving with a big smile...

In the sea of flames, Miah's eyes were red with grief and rage!

She hated them!

She refused to resigned herself this fate!

"Boom!" There was an explosion.

A reinforced concrete column fell in her direction.

She wanted to dodge out of the way but there was no strength left in her body.

It was at this moment that she heard the sound of footsteps running as a person rushed towards her and shielded her with his body.

And in the next second, the broken beam landed heavily on the man's back.

Miah could see the man's face clearly from the light of the flames and was stunned.

Bobby Gallagher...

How could it be...

"Don't be afraid, Miah." Bobby's eyes were bloodshot, as though he hadn't rested for a few days.

He had immediately come looking for her after hearing the news but he didn't expect that he was too late.

"No, get out of here! Quick!" Miah shouted at the top of her lungs upon seeing the top of the warehouse crumbling from the blaze.

Bobby didn't move, stubbornly shielding her with his body from the fire and falling debris.

Miah could even smell burning flesh...

"You...

”Why..."

"Don't be afraid, Miah, I won't let you face this world alone.

"I won't leave you...

Even if it's crossing the River Styx...

"I will... accompany you..."

Bobby's handsome face was gradually engulfed in flames as he spoke.

Miah closed his eyes in despair.

"Jason Powell!

"Eliza Sampson!

"I definitely won't let you go even in the afterlife!

"Bobby...

"I'll protect you in your next life..."

The fire blazed towards the sky as she finished speaking, swallowing the couple who were hugging each other tightly...

...

Miah's eyes suddenly flew open.

She was no longer surrounded by blazing flames but was instead in a warm and cosy room.

Looking down at her hands in a daze, they were completely fine, not even the callouses she had gained from her martial arts training were there.

There also weren't any burn traces on her body—what was going on?

She looked around at what she had initially thought was a hotel room and found that it wasn't one. It had medical equipment and smelled of disinfectant, feeling more like a private hospital suite.

A strong sense of déjà vu overcame her...

It was as though a light went off in her head when she remembered why.

It was the day that she had reunited with the Sampson family. She had been transported back to the body of her 20-year-old self, to the day when she had just returned to the city capital!

Miah could hardly suppress the ecstasy she felt in her heart. Since fate had given her another chance at life, she would definitely grind the bones of those scum to dust.

"I've sent your blood for testing, Miah. Now, please undress, I'll be doing a physical examination."

A man wearing a white coat entered the room while speaking. He had a handsome face and there was a small mole by the corner of one of his eyes.

A strong hatred rose up in Miah's heart as she looked at the man's face.

It was Jason Powell!

She didn't hesitate to undress in her past life because this man, who she now held a grudge against, had said he was going to do a physical examination.

And it was at that exact moment that a bunch of reporters burst into the room along with her malicious stepsister, Eliza, and her equally malicious stepmother, Holly Chambers. They took advantage of the situation and made a huge scene, calling her a homeless slut who attempted to seduce the doctor on her first day back.

As a result, on the first day of her return home, her biological father and grandmother as well as the rest of the Sampsons all looked down on her, calling her a disgrace to the family!

Now that she thought about it, all of this must have been prearranged by Jason and her two step-relatives.

Thinking of this, Miah picked up a vase that was by the head of the bed and smashed it over Jason's head with full force.

The vase made a loud shattering sound as it broke.

Not even in death would Jason have expected that such a frail-looking country bumpkin would make such a move. His head was instantly smashed open and blood flowed out of the wound.

"What are you doing, Miah!"

"How dare you abduct me, Jason Powell! You better believe I'll beat you to death!"

Jason never expected that the woman who had obediently followed him to the hospital would turn the tables and accuse him of abducting her.

"Could it be that she had discovered our plan?" Jason thought.

"What are you talking about, Miah? What abduction? You clearly—gah!"

Miah had smashed another vase on Jason, causing him to let out a loud shriek.

Seeing that the situation was beyond his control, Jason yelled loudly towards the door, "Come quick! Grab her!"

Miah turned a cold gaze towards the door as a dozen burly men rushed in.

"You've even arranged for backup, I see." Miah sneered. "Were you afraid that I wouldn't cooperate and were planning on using force?"

Jason had a savage look on his face, his previous gentlemanly façade from earlier was gone.

"I was going to examine your body out of concern, Miah, but I didn't expect you would be so difficult! Men, hold down this troublemaking patient for me!"

Miah scoffed mentally.

These dirtbags—if she didn't resist them today, they would slander her by saying she was an indiscreet slut.

But if she resisted, she would be known throughout the country as a troublemaking patient.

Well then, in for a penny, in for a pound!

"If I'm guilty, I will be punished by the law! I definitely won't let myself be bullied by you people!"

Popping sounds could be heard as Miah cracked her knuckles.

With that, she flexed her muscles and rushed towards the men.

It was all because of these conniving fiends that she lived poorly when she returned to the Sampson family household. They were extremely biased, giving only the best to her stepsister. Not only was she left with no allowance and no dignity, she also experienced humiliation on a daily basis.

Hence, she was forced to leave home and join a mysterious organization where she worked hard and learned some survival skills.

Now that she had the chance, she would personally exact revenge!

The group of men were all stunned.

In the next second, one of them received a hard kick to the neck.

As he let out an agonizing cry, Miah dealt a critical punch to the space between his eyes.

Within moments, all the men in black were on the ground, having been beaten by her.

Cricket sounds could be heard in the hospital's surveillance room, where a group of people were watching the scene unfold.

As bodyguards, they had to admit that Jason's hired men seemed weak.

However, even they felt intimidated after witnessing the skills of the girl on the screen!

Right in front of the monitor, surrounded by the bodyguards, sat a man in a wheelchair.

He was dressed in a tailored black suit and had chiseled features and a refined appearance. A cold and imposing aura emanated from him.

Bobby held a cigarette between his fingers; his eyes were indecipherable through the smoke.

In this current moment, Miah's figure on the monitor was reflected in his eyes.

He could clearly see a slim woman knocking down several burly men with precise, lethal moves.

Such skill couldn't be obtained without at least a few years of practice.

"Your intel—are you sure it's her?"

"We are absolutely sure, Mr. Gallagher! We too weren't aware that Mrs. Gallagher is so..." The bodyguards contemplated for a moment before they tremblingly continued, "...wild."

Bobby's icy expression gradually melted as he looked at Miah.

She seemed to be more interesting than before.

Miah placed a foot on one of the men's throats, seemingly trying to crush his neck.

"S-Spare me..."

A few of the men began pleading.

Jason, who had been standing to the side, was also dumbfounded.

Didn't Holly say that Miah was an uncultured country bumpkin who couldn't even speak properly?

Why did she have such incredible skill?

Just then, the door of the private suite burst opened.

Reporters came barging in.

Cameras started flashing, capturing images of Miah's face as she turned towards them.

"Ms. Sampson, I heard that you've been homeless and have been wandering aimlessly these recent years. You and Dr. Powell..."

One of the reporters said before he even entered the door, as though he were reciting a script.

As such, he was dumbfounded when he saw the group of burly men laying on the floor.

"What's going on?

"This isn't anything like what Holly Chambers claimed it would be." he thought.

Miah still hadn't moved her foot.

Her hair was dishevelled and she was smirking with her arms crossed in front of her chest.

"Go on, you were saying something about me and Dr. Powell?

"Do you have some sort of clairvoyant ability? Or perhaps x-ray vision?

"You were already so sure that I was messing around before you even entered the door.

"Is it because your thoughts are always lewd, or is it because someone directed you to say so?"

The reporter retreated backwards and didn't dare say anything more, wishing he could disappear.

Meanwhile, the other reporters swarmed forward.

Seeing that there were so many people, Jason intentionally shouted, "Be careful everyone, this patient is out of control! Help, I need backup!"

Another group of people, consisting of police officers and the Sampson family, entered after the reporters.

Knowing that she would be photographed by reporters today, Eliza intentionally wore a tight white dress, did her hair up in a bun, and put on light makeup.

She rushed towards Miah, deliberately squeezing out fake tears for the cameras. "Oh Miah, my long-lost older sister! Thank goodness we've found you, welcome home!"

Holly also shed crocodile tears as she walked up to Miah.

"Miah... it's really you! We've been searching painfully for you for so many years. But what's going on? Why did you beat up the people we sent to protect you? Don't you want to come home?"

Holly may appear to be concerned on the surface, but in actual fact, she was a backstabber.

Sure enough, as soon as Holly finished speaking, Miah saw the disdainful look in the eyes of her father and grandmother who were in the back.

Miah smiled coldly. "How could I not want to go home, Aunt Chambers? But I think the question is, do you and my stepsister really want me to?"

"What are you saying, Miah!" Holly exclaimed, slightly surprised.

Not only did Miah not shed any tears of gratitude or show any signs of timidness when surrounded by strangers, but she even provoked her directly?

Holly was afraid that things would become even more complicated if the situation were to drag on, so she quickly hinted to the police to arrest Miah.

"Officers, although this is only the first day since we found Miah and while we love her dearly, the law is the law. Miah's disruptive behaviour is due to a lack of proper upbringing, so I hope that you won't discipline her too severely..." Holly sobbed dramatically as she finished speaking.

Miah let out a cold chuckle seeing Holly's behaviour.

"You really know how to put on an act, Holly."

"The police haven't even said they were going to arrest me, but you're already acting as though they did?

"It's still too soon to say who'll be arrested."

Miah took out a syringe and an alcohol swab from a drawer as she spoke.

And before everyone's eyes, she inserted the syringe into her own arm.

Holly's expression changed drastically. "Hey, just what are you doing!"

Miah was completely composed as she withdrew her own blood like a professional.

Handing the syringe to the police, she said, "Dear officers, if my guess is correct, there should be traces of a drug in my blood that is similar to a psychedelic with hypnotic effects.

"This kind of drug is banned from private trade by the country.

"A country bumpkin like me naturally wouldn't have such a thing. Please investigate the source of this drug carefully, and find out who supplied it and who administered it to me!"

The police immediately handed her blood to a hospital staff for analysis.

A brief anxious wait later, the results were out.

"Ms. Miah Sampson is right, her blood does indeed contain an illegal hypnotic drug!

"Our investigation reveals that at 12:29 p.m. earlier today, a test sample of this drug went missing from the hospital's pharmacy. It appears that someone in the hospital has deliberately administered it to her!"

All eyes turned to Jason.

He began panicking.

Administering the drug was also part of Holly's plan.

Never would he have expected that Miah would actually be able to feel that she had been drugged and to the extent of being able to discern what type it was!

If this matter were to be pursued further, forget about sabotaging Miah, not only would he be fired for unauthorised drug administration, he would also be sent to prison!

"This has nothing to do with me, officers! The staff at the pharmacy must have made a mistake!" Having said that, Jason deliberately dragged out the nurse who was in charge of Miah's medication.

"Talk! What the heck is going on! Why did you add such a drug to Miah's IV solution?" he questioned sternly.

"I-I..."

Miah's eyes narrowed as she looked at the nurse who was being used as a scapegoat.

Naomi Chambers.

She was Holly's niece and Eliza's cousin.

In Miah's previous life, she had also done quite a number of cruel things towards Miah in order to please Holly and Eliza.

She was probably involved in the plan too. After all, she was the nurse who was in charge of Miah's care.

"What are you blubbering about? Hurry up and admit you're guilty and hand in your resignation!" Jason was vehemently shifting the blame onto Naomi in order to protect himself.

Watching their dog-eat-dog behaviour, Miah felt both contempt and satisfaction in her heart.

"Unauthorised administration of drugs is no small matter, officers, it's a matter of life or death. Don't tell me someone is able to get away with such a crime simply by resigning?" Miah chimed in.

"Of course not!"

With that, several policemen were about to handcuff Naomi right in front of Holly.

Holly instantly panicked at the sight of this.

"Naomi is still a young child, officers. All she did was take the wrong medication, is there really a need to arrest her?"

"Yes, Naomi is just a 20-something-year-old 'child'. All she did was administer the wrong medication which could've killed your beloved stepdaughter that you 'painfully searched for for many years', Aunt Chambers. Didn't you just say to the police that the law is the law? And yet now you want them to overlook a crime?" Miah stated in a cold, frank tone.

Miah's words made her father, Dylan Sampson, who had been standing silently to the side all this while, frown.

"How can you speak to your elders this way, Miah? Where are your manners!" he scolded.

"As someone who was abandoned in a desolate countryside since birth, I'm lucky enough to have had enough food to eat. Why would I care about manners? You didn't raise me, so why are you asking about it?" Miah shot back.

"You!" Dylan was so angry he looked like he might have a brain aneurysm.

He raised his hand, intending to beat Miah, but was stopped by Grandma Sampson. After all, Miah still had her use. "That's enough! Let's all go home first since she's fine. Stop making a fool out of yourself here!"

Grandma Sampson looked at Miah. "My country bumpkin granddaughter is still of great use, so I must treat her well," she thought.

It was with Grandma Sampson's words that everyone present remembered why they had been searching for Miah in the first place.

...

Miah knew what everyone was thinking when they returned to the family villa.

At this point of time in her previous life, the Sampsons' were in a dire financial situation.

Their plan for saving themselves was to marry her up, and the targetted groom was none other than the temperamental Bobby Gallagher who was rumoured to have been crippled.

Her father and grandmother were in favour of the marriage, but Holly and Eliza were afraid that she would treat them unfavourably after she married into the Gallagher family. Hence, they planned on ruining the public's opinion of her so that Bobby would marry Eliza instead.

However, Bobby only had eyes for her and never even looked in Eliza's direction.

Bobby Gallagher...

Miah felt a sharp pain in her heart at the thought of his name.

She didn't agree to the marriage in her previous life as she thought it was only beneficial to her.

Bobby's parents also didn't approve of the marriage after the fiasco about her "seducing a doctor" made the news.

Later on, after she had left the Sampsons and joined the mysterious organization, she was gullibly moved by Jason's persistent efforts in courting her.

Little did she know Bobby's feelings towards her were genuine.

And that the "gentlemanly" Jason was a deadly scumbag!

As Miah was lost in thought, Grandma Sampson put on a saccharine expression as she put her plan into motion.

"Although we've been separated for many years, you are still a Sampson. If the family were to ever be in trouble, you can't just sit back and do nothing, can you?"

Miah merely smiled in response and leaned back lazily on the sofa as she quietly listened to her grandmother spout bullsh*t, having grown accustomed to this family of hypocrites.

"Bobby, the Gallagher family heir, has recently lost the use of his legs due to an accident. Although that's the case, his appearance and capability are top-notch. Most importantly, he is the eldest son of the family!"

Grandma Sampson's eyes lit up when she started talking about the Gallagher family.

"As for what kind of family the Gallaghers are, well not even a 100 Sampsons combined can compare to how outstanding they are!

"As someone who grew up in the countryside and didn't receive any formal education, it's truly a great blessing for you to be able to marry such a man!

"And once you have, you'll be given 200 thousand dollars in dowry. You'll live happily ever after!"

Miah drummed her fingers languidly on the armrest of the sofa as she bluntly replied, "If I remember correctly, Grandmother, the Gallaghers will provide 50 million to us as financial support if I were to marry into their family, correct?

"And you're only going to give me 200 thousand out of the 50 million?

"How can I agree to such an unfair exchange? Do you think my head is only filled with sh*t?"

Everyone in the villa was stunned by Miah's words.

Even if she didn't have a proper upbringing, how could she speak this way to her elders?

Not to mention as someone who grew up in the countryside, that amount should be an astronomical figure to her.

They all thought she would be overjoyed by the promise of 200 thousand dollars, so what exactly did she have in mind?

"Well then, Miah, since you seem to have something in mind, why don't you tell us what it is?"

"I want the money that my mom left to me—10 million dollars, nothing more nothing less."

"Additionally, the 50 million that will be given by the Gallaghers will be used to purchase company shares under my name."

"From today on, Sampson Group will belong to me and Bobby Gallagher, and not you penniless Sampsons!"

Hearing this, Grandma Sampson was so upset she could almost faint.

Dylan's face had also turned as red as a tomato. He immediately pounded the table, exclaiming, "10 million? That money is for your sister to study abroad! What kind of sister are you!"

"Miah, your sister's grades each year are among the best, and she is often at the top of her grade! All of her teachers have said that it would be a waste if she doesn't study abroad!" Holly anxiously said.

Eliza also looked anxious, but Miah remained as cool as ice.

Miah scoffed mentally. "Selling off the eldest daughter in order to pay off their debt and still wanting to use 10 million dollars to send the youngest overseas to build a career when the family is on the brink of bankruptcy.

"How ironic.

"Such double standards and biased treatment were enough elements to write a cliché, dramatic tragedy.

"Why in the world was past-life me so polite to them?" she asked, concluding her inner monologue.

Then saying out loud, "Don't be mistaken, Father. My mother left me 10 million dollars as an inheritance. Regardless of how brilliant Eliza's studies are, she should be spending her own parents' hard-earned money if she wants to further her studies.

"If her father doesn't have any more money and her mother doesn't know how to earn some, then she should go out and earn it herself. What right does she have to spend my mother's money?"

Holly feigned shock upon hearing this. "How could you say that Miah, she's your sister! You're kin!"

"No, we're not. I am my mother's child whereas Eliza is a b*stard child."

"Vile creature!"

Unable to bear it further, Dylan raised his hand intending to slap her. However, Miah blocked it and immediately stood up; her strength was far greater than his.

"Don't think you can beat me like a dog just because you're my father, Dylan Sampson!" she declared, raising her voice.

"I'm a human being and my marriage is my business! If you don't agree to my terms then I won't marry! And if I don't, we'll just await the family's downfall and die together!"

"If I go down, I'm taking you all with me!" she mentally proclaimed.

The Sampsons were taken aback by Miah's resolute attitude.

They had thought that a child like her, who grew up in the countryside, would be utterly complaint after being reunited with her family.

No one expected that she would demand 10 million fiercely like a lion!

Miah didn't even know that her mother had left her that money in her previous life.

It wasn't until Eliza told her the truth just as she was about to perish in the warehouse fire, only then did she know that the results of her mother's hard work had also been seized by the despicable mother-daughter duo!

Back then, she had felt a pain in her heart as though it had been stabbed with a knife.

But it was already too late!

Not only was she unable to avenge her mother, but she also lost her life...

Something like this definitely couldn't happen again in this life!

Holly immediately stepped in to mediate the situation after seeing how it had escalated. "Actually, according to the will, a condition needs to be met in order to obtain the money."
